About this center
Raising Stars Preschool is located on East Hill in Vernon, British Columbia. Voted the best childcare option in Vernon of 2024, we welcome children aged 30 months*—5 years. We are a fully inclusive facility that accepts children from any religious background, family history, special needs, or other barriers that may be present.
Based out of a house converted into a Preschool and childcare facility, our environment feels like a home away from home and is comfortable for your child; we are proud to be an accredited Hygge in the early years centre!
Following a developmentally appropriate approach to early learning, we make your child's first school experience positive and welcoming!
Following a developmentally appropriate approach to Early Childhood Education, Raising Stars is dedicated to making your child's first school experiences positive and meaningful! We follow the BC Early Learning Framework and are a Reggio Emilia-inspired school. We are proud to be a North American Reggio Emilia Alliance member.
Moving away from traditional set themes in Early Childhood Education, our classroom activities and learning opportunities are created from the children's interests and can last days, weeks, or months, so children who attend for several years are never bored and are always learning something new and interesting!
We believe in hands-on learning! You will not see worksheets at Raising Stars. Children learn from messy exploration, outdoor play, and hands-on experiences.
We have part-day and full-day childcare options. The best part is that ALL children participate in Preschool, regardless of whether they attend part-day or full-day!
Our PRESCHOOL-ONLY program has a set pick-up time of 12:30 pm.
Our PRESCHOOL+CHILDCARE program has flexible pick-up times between 12:30-6:00 pm!
Our Teacher-to-child ratio is 1:5 in Preschool and 1:6 in Childcare!
Our class sizes are kept small, with 10 children per class for preschool hours and 8 children per class for childcare hours, and classes remain the same all year long creating a sense of routine for children!
